Landlord discovers cannabis farm at rented flat in Dundee

A private tenant has pleaded guilty to cultivating up to £37,000 worth of cannabis at his rented flat in Dundee.

The cannabis farm was discovered by the owner of the property on Clyde Place in Dundee during a visit to investigate after receiving complaints from neighbours.

The shocked landlord, who discovered dozens of cannabis plants inside three pitched tents within the property, immediately informed the police who found a ‘large quantity’ of plants and drug paraphernalia while searching the property.

A total of 69 plants were found in the search with a potential total value of between £17,420 and £37,460.

The tenant, 29-year-old Matthew Hart, was detained and charged with cultivating the class B drug.

Hart, now of Longhaugh Road in Dundee, pleaded guilty at Dundee Sheriff Court on Wednesday and will return for sentencing next month.
