A buy-to-let landlord in Immingham, near Gimsby, has been ordered to pay £1,380 after being found guilty of renting an unlicensed house to multiple occupants.
North East Lincolnshire Council took Yordan Kaloyanov, 37, of Millhouse Rise, Immingham, to court after its housing enforcement officers and Humberside Police raided a house on Pelham Road, DN40, which the landlord was found to be renting out to multiple residents without a licence, in addition to a number of safety irregularities.
The property did not meet some of the basic standards required for a HMO, with several faults found, including no interlinked fire alarms, no evidence that fire alarms worked or had been tested recently, no fire doors, intumescent strips or self-closuring arms on the kitchen or bedroom doors, a lack of emergency lighting, among other issues.
