Drugs worth £60k found by landlord in rented property

A tenant has appeared in court after being caught with a drug haul worth in the region of £60,000.

The man was caught after his landlord visited the property for an inspection following complaints from neighbours about the strong smell of cannabis coming from the flat.

Aberdeen Sheriff Court heard that there was heroin worth around £21,000, along with cocaine worth £40,000.

Luke Marshall, 23, pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine and heroin in October last year.

In addition to the drugs, more than £18,000 in cash was also recovered.

Fiscal depute Colin Neilson told the court: “The witness is the landlord at the locus and knows the accused as a tenant.

“On October 5, 2017 he received an email from the factor saying there were complaints about the locus and that there was a strong smell of cannabis coming from it.”

According to Neilson, drugs were found in the plumbing in the toilet. Cocaine and heroin in wraps were also found.

Marshall, of Larch Road in Aberdeen, AB16, will be sentenced at a later date.
