A new PRS interactive learning toolkit for local authorities to help them take action against rogue landlords and letting agents has been published by the government.
The interactive platform includes a learning module and a knowledge bank and is designed to complement its guidance from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), which was recently refreshed.
According to the MCHLG, the toolkit facilitates the development and application of enforcement expertise to a range of scenarios.
It also offers guidance to local authorities about taking a sustainable approach to enforcement and will help them develop an action plan going forward.
The knowledge bank features detailed answers to questions raised by local authority enforcement officers during a nationwide programme of training and knowledge-sharing workshops held earlier this year.
The questions cover topics including regulatory issues, environmental concerns, and landlord and tenant behaviour.
The interactive learning tool contains a knowledge check section which helps enforcement officers to quickly assess their existing awareness of enforcement guidance and legislation on rogue landlords, as well as scenario section which enables officers to apply their knowledge to a range of different cases, such as when dealing with overcrowding or a HMO.
