Short Lets prices rocket as London attracts world’s tennis tourists

The price of holiday lets in South West London have skyrocketed by 30 per cent due to surging demand from visitors to the Wimbledon Championships.

An analysis by rental management platform GuestReady looked at AirBnb and other short let accommodation prices in the area ahead of the tournament starting in July 3.

This found that the average cost of renting a South West London holiday let between July 3 and 16 is up from £301 per day in 2022 to £390 in 2023 – a 30 per cent increase even on last year’s premium.

The analysis shows American visitors taking the international top spot making up 39 per cent of holiday let bookings. Visitors from Rafael Nadal’s home country of Spain take second place making up nine per cent of bookings in July.

John Severino, UK Country Manager at GuestReady, comments: “Some 146 years after it began, there is no doubt that Wimbledon is as iconic as it has always been, bringing in visitors to London year after year both from across the UK and internationally.”
